Boudoir D’huitres Fall 2010 Runway Show

Deliciously extravagant! The show opened with a rendition of Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” “Queen of The Night” aria.  Absolutely stunning costuming and vocals! Upon the end of the aria, the fashion show started in earnest with the models wearing bright crimson, black and cream colored clothing. They were beautifully constructed and very avant garde. Definitely the most intriguing collection I’ve seen this season. Since the entire collection was inspired by “The Magic Flute”, all the models’ hair was powdered and styled in the manner of Marie Antoinette! Truly an amazing, theatrical way to display the clothing. Tres chic!

Diego Binetti Fall 2010: Elegance At Its Best

Diego Binetti, known for his beautiful women’s clothing, presented his Fall 2010 collection this past Sunday. Ed and I attended with our friends from “The Real Housewives of New York”, Alex McCord and Simon Van Kempen, and noted Style Guru, Derek Warburton. Alex, who was the guest of honor at the runway show, wore one of Mr. Binetti’s fabulous creations and looked stunning as usual. The collection featured soft textures and bright colors. Definitely suitable for any Park Avenue socialite. Truly elegant!

Manuel De La Cruz Fall 2010 Apocalyptic Runway Show

Manuel De La Cruz presented his Fall 2010 collection this year to a packed audience. Speaking to the designer backstage before the show, we discovered that his collection was influenced by the calendar and culture of the Mayan civilization, with a flourish and nod to his own Guatemalan culture. Some of the fabrics used in the show were directly imported from Guatamala, and radiated bright colors. The designs themselves ranged from the futuristic and tribal to cocktail chic. One piece that stood out in particular was a tuxedo jacket in red with black trimming (sooo mine)! Overall, Mr. De La Cruz put on a beautiful show with elegant clothing! Sooo chic!

Andrew Buckler Fall 2010: Deconstructidly Constructed

Andrew Buckler presented his Fall 2010 men’s collection this past Friday. Beautifully tailored clothing with a soft edge of deconstructed beauty is the description that automatically came to mind. The clothing ranged from suits to sportswear that any chic New Yorker would be sure to wear, whether it be for a casual day out, or a hard core fashionista/socialista party during the psychotic time know as Fashion Week! Andrew Buckler is truly New York Chic!

Costello Taglipietra Fall 2010: Femininity At Its Best

Joe: Of all the runway shows held on Friday, one stood out to us as the chicest. Jeffrey Costello and Robert Taglipietra presented their Fall 2010 look at Milk Studios in Chelsea. Visiting back stage before the show, we found the two adorable designers calmly giving interviews, but there was a definite energy in the air. After quick hellos and the wishing of luck, we exited to take our seats and passed by all the models, makeup artists and hair stylists (always fun to be backstage) quickly working to make this production perfect. The show started, and the two words that came to mind were “diaphanous” and “origami”. The draping on some of the pieces was exquisitely applied, making it look effortless. The other pieces were constructed with a precision that made origami look simple. All in all, a beautiful, feminine collection presented by two of the most masculine designers on the scene! Tres Chic!

Ed: I’d also like to add that many of the fabrics were dyed using AirDye, an environmentally friendly dying process that uses no water and produces no pollutants. So not only were the fashions amazing, but green as well! That’s doubly chic!
